There is currently a research study called FOXFIRE that is looking for patients to get involved until the end of October 2014. The aim of this research is to understand if treatment with SIR-Spheres microspheres and chemotherapy works better than chemotherapy alone for bowel cancer that has spread to the liver. This only applies to patients who have not previously received chemotherapy to treat liver metastases. Patients taking part in the study will be entered into either the SIR-Spheres microspheres and chemotherapy group or chemotherapy alone group. Neither you nor your doctor can decide which group you are in.
The recruitment for patients onto this trial will end on 31 October 2014. This trial is funded by the Bobby Moore Fund of Cancer Research UK and is sponsored by the University of Oxford.
